Gosh I am sexy... Well, I got word this week from the JAG that I have been selected for "Career Status", which basically means that I am no longer a part of United States Naval Reserve and have transitioned over to United States Navy (no change in pay, I no longer have a contract, and serve "at the pleasure of the President"). Apparently this is a milestone that I needed to check off before I can promote to Lieutenant Commander (no Giordi LaForge jokes, please...)
But, that means I am now eligible for "continuation pay" one year from this week. If I accept it, then I will obligated for another three years (and, by that time I will be up for 0-4, and if I promote, then I will have to serve at least 2 years in my promoted rank).
Sooo, this has sparked some conversations in our house about staying in the Navy or not.
The Navy has been good to me. But, I have accomplished (or am accomplishing) the goals /desires that I had when I commissioned. I really don't feel the call of the sea, and shudder when I think about having to live onboard a ship for 6-8 months at a time.
Anyway...enough blog diarrhea. Hope all is well with everyone.

I wasn't thinking about a "Star Trek" quote - but something from "A Few Good Men," what was the comment about being in a white uniform; away, congratulations and we know how those household conversation can go.
Take Care
Congrats, Hayes!
Does this mean you can stay in Annapowis longer?
no, this really has no bearing on my current orders in Annapolis. I am in Annapolis for three years (or sooner, depending on if we go for another tour). Which is the bigger question that Cel and I are trying to answer. Unfortunately, it will all boil down to how much money we can make.
are you going to quit the navy?
