Doubt that the stars are fire

For those of you who don't know, my final MFA Acting project next semester involves performing in Hamlet (directed by the head of the MFA program). We had auditions for the show this past Sunday and the director has already posted the cast list. I've been cast as...drum roll please...
Ophelia
(you know, Ophelia is Hamlet's girlfriend. In the end of the play, she goes crazy and drowns herself).

Just for your calendars...the show will be closing at the Blackfriars on March 19th but we will have some performances before then. I'll keep you updated...I'd love for you guys to make it, if you can!

To those nieces and nephews who haven't read Hamlet, I expect a full report on my desk before March 19th! It's a great play. You'll love it!

congrats, Les (if that's the part you wanted...), I guess as far as female parts go in that play...that's a big one.

Now is the winter---forget it...

Such a great part! I will give you a $100 if, during the "But soft you now..." exchange with Hamlet you say (a la Jennifer Saunders), "Well, if it isn't the sad, Swedish person hisself!"

What Lesley didn't mention is that she is also the fight choreographer for the show. Ophelia is BUTCH!

congrats Lesley! i can't wait to see you go crazy on the stage and not just in real life!

thanks, court...I'll actually be coming over to your house and following you around for some research...tee-hee...

actually, I'm not technically the choreographer, I'm essentially the assistant. we will get a professional to come in to do the fight for us, but as soon as she's gone, I have to make sure they are doing it right...that's what i do. i teach...

whit, I was actually planning on running on stage, completely screaming..."Oh my lord, I have been SOOOOOO affrighted...." and then falling off the stage. I think it'll work...don't you? just sit in the front row. you can catch me.

Thespian humor escapes me...or, is just not that funny.

tee-hee to that.

Here is some more humor for you...Gertrude's opening line in Hamlet is "Good Hamlet, cast thy nighted colour off"...but it isn't unusual for actors to invert that line and end up saying, "Good Hamlet, cast off thy colored nightie!"

ahem...tee-HEE
